An Inverness pub has been evacuated after a "pepper spray" canister was set off inside.

Nobody was injured in the incident at the Kings Highway on Church Street at 2pm on Friday.

The bar has offered to refund customers for "ruined meals or drinks".

A spokesman said: "A canister was set off in the customer area - we think it was pepper spray.

"We had to evacuate the pub but nobody was injured. The police and fire service were here."

Police have recovered the canister and asked anyone with any information to contact them.

A spokesman for Police Scotland added: "Anyone who was within the premises at the time or who may have information about this incident to make contact via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
