Body of woman killed on Skye to be flown back to Australia
Madison Rice, 21, died when she was struck by a car on the A87 earlier this month.
The body of an Australian woman killed in a road crash on Skye is set to be flown home.
Madison Rice, 21, died when she was hit by a car on the A87 in the early hours of the morning on June 6.
She was hitch-hiking back to the Kinloch Lodge in Sleat with her boyfriend Joe Perry when the collision happened.
Nearly 600 people have donated almost $33,000 to take Madison's body home to Queensland, where it is expected to arrive on Wednesday, June 22.
Last week, her stepfather Alix Welsh told STV News: "The support has been overwhelming not only in Australia but abroad and from the people from Skye. It's very humbling for us all.
"I was only expecting [the fundraising campaign] to cover part of the cost but I'm hoping we've covered it all.
"I never expected this - words don't explain or express our gratitude enough."
Ms Rice's funeral will be held at a chapel in the Queensland suburb of Noosaville on Friday, June 24.
