A Commonwealth medallist severely injured in a motorbike accident has stood up for the first time since the crash.

Stephanie Inglis, from Inverness, was pulled from a motorcycle taxi in Vietnam when her skirt became caught in a wheel on May 12.

The athlete, who won silver at the Glasgow 2014 games, was originally given a 1% chance of survival but her condition has since improved.

Ms Inglis has now stood up for the first time since her accident, supported by four physiotherapists.

She is being treated at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh after flying back to Scotland from Bangkok last week.

The sports star had been on her way to work teaching English in Ha Long when the accident happened.

Thousands of supporters donated more than £300,000 to pay for Ms Inglis' medical care after it emerged that her travel insurance would not cover her costs.

The donations have helped to fund her treatment, her transfer to hospital in Thailand and her journey back to Scotland.
