A Highland man whose disappearance sparked a police appeal has been found safe and well.

Colin Haxton was reported missing from his Inverness home on Friday.

It was thought he may have travelled to the west coast by hitch-hiking or using public transport.

Officers said there were "increasing concerns" for Mr Haxton's well-being but they confirmed on Tuesday he had been traced locally.

Police said they wanted to thank members of the public for their assistance.
