An elderly couple died in freezing conditions outside their home on Lewis.

The pair, named locally as Donald and Maureen Macmillan, ran the village post office in the small village of Gravir.

The bodies of the husband and wife were discovered outside their home in the early hours of Friday.

Police Scotland are investigating the deaths, with one line of enquiry being the pair died in the sub-zero temperatures which affected the area on Thursday night into Friday morning.
