The family of a teenager whose body was found two weeks after he disappeared in Inverness plan to hold a celebration of his life.

Adam Mitchell, 18, was reported missing after leaving a pub in the city on November 10.

Police carried out an intensive search of the area where he was last seen in the days following his disappearance using dogs and specially-trained officers.

His body was found in the sea off St Fergus beach in Aberdeenshire on November 27.

In a notice published in a local newspaper on Friday, his family said: "It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our darling son.

"We wish to invite his friends and family to a celebration of his life [with] details to follow.

"In honour of Adam we wish all who attend to wear band shirts. Dig them out from the back of your wardrobe and wear them with pride as he did."

Mr Mitchell's family have asked for donations to be made to the RNLI.
