A 280-year-old Highland castle has been put on the market for £450,000.

Teaninich Castle in Alness, Easter Ross, is up for sale along with eight acres of grounds.

The 12-bedroom home has been empty since closing as a hotel and restaurant several years ago.

Estate agents CKD Galbraith said it possesses "tremendous potential" despite being in need of renovation.

Teaninich Castle is the former clan seat of the Munros of Teaninich and was formerly owned by Charles Harrison, who was the basis for the character Little Lord Fauntleroy.

The castle was originally put up for sale in 2011 at a guide price of £950,000.
