Plans to build a rooftop bar and restaurant at an Inverness shopping centre have been approved.

Councillors backed the proposal for the new outlet at the Eastgate this week.

They believe it will attract shoppers to the centre and "add to the vibrancy and vitality of the city centre".

It is unclear if any restaurant owners have shown interest in filling the space following the council's decision.

Scoop Asset Management has made a series of improvements to the Eastgate since buying it for £115m last year.

Highland councillors recently approved plans to extend the shopping centre's Falcon Square entrance to make room for four new restaurants.
