The A9 has reopened following a two-car crash in the Highlands which left three injured.

The collision happened between Dalmagarry and the Slochd Summit shortly before 10am on Thursday.

The road was shut in both directions until 1.40pm while police carried out enquiries.

Three people were taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment but they are not believed to be in a life-threatening condition.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We were alerted to a collision at around 9.30am this morning  involving a Peugeot van and a Renault Scenic.

"Three casualties were taken to Raigmore hospital where they are not deemed to be in a life-threatening condition. No further details are available on the casualties at this time."

The A9 was hit by heavy snowfall overnight on Wednesday, hampering driving conditions.
