Police are hunting for a man who exposed himself to Christmas shoppers in Inverness.

Officers said the "distressing" incident happened at around 5.30pm on December 23 in a shop in the city's High Street.

The man is described as white, in his mid-50s, of slim build with grey receding hair.

He was wearing thin-rimmed glasses, a dark jacket and trousers and was last seen at around 5.34pm walking alone in the direction of High Street.

Police Scotland is appealing for information following an indecent exposure within a store at Inverness High Street on Friday December 23, 2016.

Pc Matt Cameron said: "I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything that could assist with our inquiries to contact police as soon as possible. Likewise if you recognise a man fitting the description provided please contact Police as soon as possible.

"While no specific members of the public were targeted as such, it was obviously a distressing incident for those in the vicinity at the time. I would like to reassure the public that extensive inquiries, including CCTV work, are ongoing.
