A man has died in hospital nine days after he was knocked down by a car.

George Jack was struck by a Ford Fiesta on Station Road in Avoch, Black Isle, in the early hours of January 1.

He was taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment and then Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he died on Monday.

The 36-year-old was from the Avoch area.

In a statement, his family said: "We are understandably devastated by our loss. We would ask that our privacy is respected at this extremely difficult time."

Police Scotland has asked anyone with any information about the collision to contact officers on 101.
