Three men and a teenager have been arrested over alleged distribution of fake banknotes.

The arrests were made after a vehicle was stopped by police on the A9 in Ross-shire on Monday.

Police said the four were detained in relation to "alleged distribution of counterfeit banknotes in the Highlands".

The men, aged 23, 25 and 30, were arrested alongside a 16-year-old boy.

They are due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Police said anyone who has information about the counterfeit banknotes should contact them on 101.
