A crofter has died after being killed by a bull on his farm in the Highlands.

Alistair Maclean, 76, was killed in Borgie Skerray and discovered on Monday at 5pm.

A joint investigation is under way involving Police Scotland and the Health and Safety Executive.

A police spokeswoman said: "Police can confirm that officers responded to the sudden death of a 76-year-old man at a farm in the Borgie Skerray area at around 5pm on Monday, May 1.

"Police are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive but there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.

"A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal as is standard and the man's next of kin have been made aware."
