A man has been arrested and charged in connection with £50,000 worth of illegal drugs recovered in a Highlands bust.

Police found a large quantity of cocaine and cannabis after stopping and searching a vehicle on the A9 south of Inverness on Friday.

The 34-year-old man is expected to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court on Monday.

Detective Sergeant Sam McLaughlan said: "This enforcement again demonstrates our commitment to tackling the supply of controlled drugs into the Highlands and Islands and we will continue to actively target all transport links into the area to ensure these illicit drugs are prevented from causing harm within our local communities.

"Organised criminality, including the supply of drugs, remains a top priority for Police Scotland and the public can be reassured that we will continue to positively act upon the information provided.

"I would urge anyone with concerns or information about drugs to contact Police Scotland at any time on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
