A man has died in hospital after a car flipped onto its roof during a one-vehicle crash in the Highlands.

The collision happened on the A862 at Inchberry, near Inverness, on Tuesday at around 1.30pm.

Paul Peacock, 60, who was driving a silver Volkswagen Golf west in the direction of Beauly, had to be cut free from the wreckage by firefighters.

He was then taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, where he later died.

Road policing sergeant Angus Murray said: "Our thoughts at this time are with Mr Peacock's family and friends.

"An investigation into the collision is underway and we have already spoken to a number of witnesses.

"In order to help establish the cause of the collision, I would urge anyone who believes they may have seen the vehicle on the day of the collision to come forward if you haven't already done so.

"Likewise if any motorists believe they may have dashcam footage which could assist our enquiries, I would ask for them to come forward."
