Four men have been charged in connection with an attempted murder in the Highlands.

A man and a woman were attacked at a house in Orchard Park, Beauly, at around 5.20am on Sunday.

The victims suffered serious injuries, with the man's injuries described as life-threatening.

He is currently in a stable condition in hospital.

Police Scotland confirmed that four men - aged 50, 48, 21 and 18 - have been charged in connection with the attempted murder and are expected to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court.

Detective inspector Eddie Ross said: "This was a contained incident and our enquiries continue.

"I would like to thank members of the local community for their continued assistance with our enquiries."
