Council worker dies after car collides with tractor in Aberdeenshire
Douglas Edwardson, 58, was being treated at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but later died.
A senior council worker has died after the car he was travelling in with his wife collided with a tractor.
Douglas Edwardson, 58, head of housing at Aberdeenshire Council, was involved in the collision on the A944 near Dunecht on December 5.
Mr and Mrs Edwardson, who was also injured, were treated at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Police confirmed on Thursday that Mr Edwardson had died from his injuries.
In a statement released through Police Scotland, his family said: "We are devastated to confirm that Douglas has died.
"We are very grateful for all the support we have received, in particular from all the staff at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary."
The collision happened at around 2.30pm and involved a Seat Leon and a tractor.
Police are continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward and are appealing directly to the driver of another vehicle.
Road policing sergeant Steve Milne said: "It is understood a small 4x4 may have stopped directly after the accident in the eastbound carriageway and the sole occupant may have seen the collision.
"We would appeal for that driver or anyone else with information to call 101.""
