Almost 30 firefighters tackled a blaze at an Aberdeenshire primary school.

Crews were called to Kinellar Primary, in the Blackburn area, just after 2am on New Year's Day.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it sent around 28 crew members in five appliances, one water carrier and a welfare unit to the scene.

Nobody was in the building at the time, a spokeswoman said.

The firefighting operation was declared over around five hours after the incident began.
