More than 100 workers have been evacuated from an oil platform in the North Sea due to a power cut.

The outage happened on the Clyde on Tuesday and it is understood 103 workers from a total staff of 178 were flown to the nearby Fulmar platform.

A spokesman for Talisman Sinopec Energy UK, which operates the Clyde platform, said: "We initiated a precautionary downman of non-essential personnel from the Clyde platform following loss of power at approximately 3pm on Tuesday, February 16.

"An investigation is under way and work is being carried out to re-establish power."
