Urgent repairs will be carried out to a bridge damaged during Storm Frank.

It will take engineers up to four weeks to repair the foundations of the Dee Bridge in Banchory, Aberdeenshire.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place on the B974 and the bridge will be fully shut at times.

A spokesman for Aberdeenshire Council said: "During the majority of the works vehicular traffic will be controlled using temporary traffic lights, however, certain elements of the works will require a full closure of the bridge to vehicles.

"We aim to minimise the disruption by carrying out the majority of the works between 9.30am and 3pm each day with closure implemented as required.

"During the road closures the diversion route for vehicles will be to the east via the A957 Durris Bridge at Crathes.

"Pedestrian traffic will be maintained providing it is safe to do so in respect of the works under way from the top of the bridge."
