A scooter rider has been left seriously injured after a collision with a car in Aberdeen.

The incident happened on Argyll Road next to Aberdeen Airport at 6.20am on Tuesday.

The road was shut with diversions in place while the emergency services dealt with incident.

The 45-year-old scooter rider was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in a non-life threatening condition.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

Investigating officer Andrew Bradnock said: "We are looking to establish the circumstances of the collision and are asking for help from the public. Although early, there were some motorists in the area at the time with commuters driving into work and those travelling to the airport for morning flights.

"I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision or who saw either of these vehicles prior to the collision to contact Police Scotland on 101."
