A driver got out of his car and assaulted another man in the middle of a carriageway in a road rage incident in Aberdeen.

The incident happened in the Nigg area of the city on Wednesday morning during rush hour.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the altercation to come forward. The victim was not injured in the attack.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "The incident occurred at about 8am on Wednesday on Wellington Road near to traffic lights by the Loch of Loirston on the A956.

"During the incident, the male driver of a red Dacia Logan has reported to have been assaulted by a man who had been driving another vehicle.

"Both vehicles were stopped on the carriageway of Wellington Road at the time of the incident. The man was uninjured. If anyone recalls witnessing this incident they are asked to contact Police with information.

"Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 if you wish to remain anonymous."
