An oil worker has been airlifted to hospital after suffering an eye injury 125 miles off the coast of Aberdeen.

The man was flown from the Balmoral platform and landed at the city’s Royal Infirmary shortly before 1pm on Sunday.

He is not thought to have been seriously injured and walked from the helicopter to a waiting ambulance.

A coastguard spokesman said: “The Aberdeen team was paged at 11.55am to assist a Bond rescue helicopter landing at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary at 12.50pm with a casualty who had sustained an eye injury.

“The casualty walked from the aircraft to the waiting ambulance.”

Another man was evacuated to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after a medical incident on the Fulmar Alpha platform on Saturday evening.
