A man has been charged after police seized a "significant quantity" of drugs from a property in Orkney.

Officers raided the address in Kirkwall on Tuesday, where they found a stash of the Class B drug.

A 21-year-old man was arrested and appeared in Kirkwall Sheriff Court on Wednesday charged with the cultivation and possession of controlled drugs.

He was released on bail pending a further court appearance.

Police said they "remained focused" on disrupting the supply and use of illegal substances in the islands.

Area inspector Alicen Winston said: "We are grateful for the information that comes to us and I would like to encourage and reassure residents of Orkney that all information we receive, no matter how insignificant it may seem, will be used in our fight against drug crime to keep our community a safer place to live."
