An Aberdeen City Council employee has admitted committing fraud by selling mobile phones contracted out to her work.

Nicola Williamson, 47, told operator Vodafone that she was ordering 196 phones on behalf of her employer.

She claimed the mobiles would be given to other staff at Aberdeen City Council but sold them all online and kept the cash.

Williamson admitted the crime at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday and was remanded in custody until her next appearance in May. Sentence was deferred for background reports.

Defence lawyer Mike Monro described the crime as a "very serious" breach of trust.

Her address was given in court papers as HMP Grampian, Peterhead.
