The Duke of Rothesay is considering opening his first tea shop in Scotland, STV News understands.

Prince Charles, who has close ties to Ballater in Aberdeenshire, is believed to be in early talks to open a shop in the former McEwens of Perth building.

McEwens shut its doors in Ballater, Oban and Perth last month after 150 years in business, with the loss of 130 jobs.

A spokesman for Clarence House said: "His Royal Highness has a close relationship with Ballater and is committed to exploring ways in which his charities can help the local community following the recent floods."

The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay visited the town in the wake of devastating flooding which hit the area over New Year. The duke toured the town and visited locals affected by the floods.

Profits from the pop-up Highgrove tea shop would be donated to the Prince of Wales' Charitable Foundation.
