A search has been launched for a man who has gone missing from his home in Aberdeenshire.

Concerns are growing for Alexander Robertson, 65, after he was last seen in the Castlegate, Aberdeen, at about 2pm on Wednesday.

It is understood Mr Robertson, from Huntly, was heading towards the bus station.

He is described as being around 5ft 9in, of a large build with short grey hair and is usually clean shaven. Mr Robertson wears glasses and has an Aberdeen accent.

When last seen he was wearing a black wool bomber jacket and black dress trousers. He wears a gold watch and a gold wedding band.

Sergeant Gordon Forsyth said: "There have been no confirmed sightings of Sandy since he was last seen in the Castle Bar on the Castlegate on Wednesday.

"Concerns are obviously growing for him and we would like to make sure he is safe and well.

"I would urge anyone who has seen this gentleman or knows where he might be, to contact police on 101."
