Police are hunting three young men after a man in his 50s was assaulted in broad daylight on an Aberdeen street.

The victim was left needing hospital treatment after the attack on Willow Park Crescent around midday on Saturday.

He was injured after an "altercation" with the three men and remains in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for observation. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with any information on the three attackers to come forward.

Detective sergeant Martyn Thomson, who is leading the inquiry, said: "This is a particularly upsetting incident given it has happened in broad daylight and while people are enjoying the bank holiday weekend.

"We understand that three men in their late teens to early twenties, wearing dark clothing, were in the area at this time and I would urge anyone who saw these men or who has any information about this incident contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where your call will be treated anonymously."
