A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of an Indian restaurant owner in 1978.

Riasat Khan, 63, has been charged with the murder of Khazi Ahmad.

The body of Mr Ahmad, 41, was found in his flat on Rosemount Viaduct, Aberdeen in October 1978.

Appearing at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday, Khan made no plea or declaration.

Khan, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody and the case was committed for further examination.
