The family of a climber missing in the Cairngorms has been informed after the discovery of a body.

An operation is under way to recover the remains, which were found by a hillwalker in the Glen Lui area on Thursday night.

Jim Robertson, from Glasgow, was reported missing when he failed to return from a trip to the Cairngorms in March.

An extensive two-month search for the 61-year-old has been led by the Braemar Mountain Rescue Team.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A body has been found in the Glen Lui area of the Cairngorms, Aberdeenshire.

"An operation is currently under way to recover the body, which was discovered last night, and more information will be issued when available."

His family has raised nearly £12,000 to support Braemar MRT's work.
