A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car.

Emergency services were called to King Street in Aberdeen, close to its junction with Frederick Street, at around 1.36am on Sunday morning.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "The collision involved a white Seat Toledo motor vehicle.

"As a result a male pedestrian was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

"The male driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

"Inquiries into the incident are ongoing."

Road was closed for several hours while officers examined the scene.
