Six men and a woman have been charged after two lorries were stolen and torched.

The HGVs, which were filled with alcohol and furniture, were taken from M&H Logistics on Craigshaw Road in Aberdeen at midnight on Monday.

They were found ablaze in a layby on the A97 south of Huntly, Aberdeenshire, at around 5am.

Six men aged between 21 and 31 and a 40-year-old woman from Aberdeen, Elgin and Falkirk have been charged and are expected to appear in court on Thursday.

Police have continued an appeal for information about a burnt-out Renault Megane found in the Hazlehead area which officers believe may be connected to the theft.

A spokesman for Police Scotland added: "Enquiries into the case are ongoing, and officers are still keen to speak to anyone who has any information about the incident.
