A police car has collided with traffic lights on its way to an emergency call.

The Police Scotland dog unit was en route to an incident after receiving an emergency call in Aberdeen when the crash happened in the early hours of Monday.

The vehicle collided with lights on the city's Great Northern Road at its junction with Don Street at around 5am. No one was injured in the crash, however, the police car was badly damaged.

It is understood the officers involved were responding to a call about a housebreaking incident.

A statement from Police Scotland said: "There will be an investigation carried out as with all incidents involving police vehicles."
