A teacher allegedly hid a knife brought into school by a pupil to protect him from punishment.

Jane Callister will face a hearing over the charge in front of the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) on Thursday.

She reportedly concealed the knife and failed to tell the acting head of her Moray primary school that the boy had it.

Callister allegedly returned the knife to the child's home and spoke to him privately about what he had done in December 2014.

She also reportedly contacted the child and his father through social media and sent them private messages.

Callister also allegedly invited the pupil to her home and the GTCS claims her fitness to teach is impaired.
