An offshore supply ship is being held over claims its crew has not been paid in at least two months.

The MV Malaviya Seven was detained at Aberdeen harbour by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).

Officials said the vessel will be held there "until all wages are paid and deficiencies are rectified".

A second ship owned by GOL Offshore is under investigation in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, for similar reasons.

A spokeswoman for the MCA said: "The vessel has been detained for non-payment of seafarers' wages and for not fully complying with the requirements for seafarers' employment agreements.

"The detention will remain in place until the seafarers wages are paid and other identified deficiencies are rectified."

The Malaviya Seven was contracted by oil giant BP between June 1 and June 15.
