A man was flown to hospital at the weekend after falling from cliffs near Slains Castle.

A coastguard helicopter and an RNLI lifeboat crew were sent to the scene near Cruden Bay, Aberdeenshire, on Sunday.

The man was flown to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he was met by an ambulance crew.

He is not thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

A spokesman for Aberdeen Coastguard said: "While preparing to provide safety cover at the Ythan Challenge our team was tasked to assist other teams from Cruden Bay and Peterhead to a cliff-faller north of Slains Castle.

"Peterhead lifeboat and R951 [rescue helicopter] from Inverness also responded.

"While the casualty was being attended to the Aberdeen team made best progress to meet the aircraft at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to transfer the casualty into a waiting ambulance."
