Legal dramas could soon be filmed at a former Aberdeenshire courthouse.

Stonehaven Sheriff Court was closed two years ago along with a number of other small Scottish courts.

The Stonehaven Town Partnership (STP) has now submitted plans to transform the building into a film set and cafe.

An STP spokesman said: "Courtroom one has the potential to be used as a film set, a stage for performances, weddings, mock trials and debates.

"Courtroom two could be used as a community café and we are still exploring this idea."

STP has hired an architect and has applied for funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service is considering the STP's plans for the courthouse.
