A Barnardo's carer injured an 11-year-old boy and used "unnecessary force" trying to restrain him, it is claimed.

Martin Thomson reportedly told colleagues "I wonder if he'll have a black eye" following the alleged incident in January 2015.

Mr Thomson is said to have "inappropriately restrained" the boy at the Linksfield Residential Service in Aberdeen.

He is accused by the Scottish Social Services Council of applying unnecessary force and pressure in an attempt to bend the boy's arm and pushing the boy's head with his hand to the boy's injury.

Mr Thomson left Linksfield after the alleged incident occurred.

He also reportedly fell asleep during an overnight shift and "failed in his duty of care" in October 2014.

He will face a three-day hearing before the council, which is due to begin on Monday.
