A man found guilty of raping three women has been jailed for nine years.

Daniel Severin was convicted of six rape charges during a trial at the High Court in Aberdeen.

The 30-year-old, who attacked one woman while she was asleep, insisted they had consensual sex.

Severin was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow in Friday by Lord Beckett, who ordered he be supervised for three years after his release.

The rapes happened between December 2005 and March 2014 in Aberdeen.

In his closing speech to the jury, prosecutor Ian Wallace said Severin's "pursuit of sex" was such that he did not care if the women consented.

Police paid tribute to Severin's victims for their "strength and courage."
