Five men have been arrested after a major drugs bust in the north east.

Police seized heroin and crack cocaine with an estimated street value of around £100,000 in raids in the Hilton and George Street areas of Aberdeen on Friday.

Four Aberdeen men, aged 37, 38, 46, and 62, and a fifth, aged 46 and from London, are expected to appear in court later in July as a result of the recovery.

The seizure was the result of an intelligence-led operation, police said.

Detective inspector Stuart McAdam said: "We will continue to target all those who wish to involve themselves in drug activity and organised crime in the north east of Scotland, and we will continue in our efforts to make our policing area a hostile place to deal controlled drugs.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the public for their continued support as we tackle serious and organised crime, and I would ask that they continue to report any concerns to us."
