Fire crews tackled a blaze which broke out on the ground floor of an Aberdeenshire nightclub.

The fire began shortly after 11pm on Sunday at Zee's on Barclay Street in Stonehaven.

Five fire crews were called to the scene and used breathing apparatus and hose jets to extinguish the blaze.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We attended a fire at Zees nightclub in Stonehaven on Sunday.

"Crews from Stonehaven, Inverbervie, Laurencekirk and Aberdeen were mobilised to the incident at 11.16pm.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus put out the fire on the ground floor with high pressure hose reels and main jets.

"No-one was hurt in the incident and there is an investigation underway with Police Scotland to establish the cause of the fire. Crews left the scene at 12.30am."
