Police have issued an appeal for information following a serious sexual assault in Aberdeen.

The attack took place in the Walker Road/Grampian Lane area of Torry in the early hours of Saturday.

Officers want to speak to anyone who was in the area between 3am and 4am that day and are seeking information about a light-coloured estate-type vehicle which was in the area at the time.

Police Scotland has not released any information about the victim.

Detective inspector Stuart McAdam said: "I would appeal for anyone who may have been in the area at that time and saw anything that they think may have been suspicious or saw a similar vehicle in the Torry area of Aberdeen in the early hours of Saturday morning to contact police as a priority.

"We are at the early stages of our inquiries, however I would urge anyone with information about this incident to get in touch.
