About 40 jobs are expected to be lost at a seafood factory in Aberdeen.

Nolan Seafoods said around 80 of its 217-strong workforce were at risk of redundancy.

The firm said it is "exploring a number of options" in a "volatile and unpredictable" market.

Chairman George Nolan said: "We are communicating fully with our staff and working with all representatives to ensure that employees receive as much information and support as possible during this difficult period.

"The company remains committed to providing quality service levels to our existing customers while exploring opportunities to develop new business."

Nolan was founded in Belfast in 1912 and set up its Aberdeen operation in 2002.
