Police are appealing for witnesses after a 72-year-old man was assaulted in Aberdeen.

The man was taken to hospital with leg injuries after the attack in Ashgrove Road West at around 2.15am on Friday, July 29.

Officers are now keen to trace three men who were seen acting suspiciously at various locations across Aberdeen in the early hours of Friday, July 29, including Cairncry Court at 11.30pm, Stockethill Crescent at around 2am and Birkhall Parade at around 3.30am.

Police said the men were also seen acting suspiciously in the same area on the previous night.

Detective inspector Stuart McAdam said: "This is a concerning crime and we understand that the community will be affected.

"Additional patrols have and will be carried out. We are urgently appealing to anyone who may have seen these men around the times given.
