A man suffered a serious injury after an "unprovoked attack" in Aberdeen city centre.

The 26-year-old was the victim of assault on Bath Street in the early hours of June 13 and police are appealing for witnesses.

Officers from Police Scotland's alcohol and violence reduction unit have now released a CCTV image of the man they wish to speak to in connection with the assault.

He is described as in his mid 20s, 6ft, of heavy build with medium-length ginger hair.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a light blue polo shirt and jeans.

Constable Stuart Hache, the investigating officer, said: "This was an unprovoked attack resulting in the male sustaining a serious injury to his mouth.

"Assaults of this nature have a significant impact on the life of the victim.

"I would appeal to anyone who recognises the male pictured or has any knowledge of this incident to come forward and contact the police."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
