A construction worker has been ordered to pay compensation to a former colleague who was left with a serious brain injury after a fight.

Keir Agnew, 33, struck fellow AWPR worker Colin Gordon on the head after an argument outside the Market Bar in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire.

Mr Gordon collapsed to the ground and was taken to hospital following the incident, later undergoing surgery to relieve the pressure on his brain.

He spent a week in a coma following the altercation on August 14 last year and has since suffered mobility issues, as well as losing his sense of taste and smell.

Agnew, of New Stevenston, North Lanarkshire, admitted assaulting Mr Gordon to the danger of his life when he appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court last month.

On Monday, he was ordered to pay his victim £7500 and carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the community.
