A man who fell into the River Dee was rescued after scrambling up a bridge.

The Aberdeen lifeboat was called out after the man ended up in the river near Victoria Bridge at 3am on Monday.

The man managed to climb one of the parapets of the bridge, where he waited to be carried ashore by the RNLI.

He was then handed over to the emergency services.

An RNLI spokesman said: "The lifeboat was sent to a male who had fallen from rocks and landed in the water.

"He had made his way to a parapet on the bridge, where we picked him up and passed him to the emergency services."
