A man knocked down by a bus in Aberdeen is in a life-threatening condition in hospital.

The incident happened on Union Street at its junction with Holburn Street at 9.50pm on Monday.

The 59-year-old was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment following the incident involving a Stagecoach bus.

Police Scotland's sergeant Dave Pirie said: "We are appealing for witnesses and in particular for four people who may have stopped and assisted the injured party.

"We don't have any further details about these people but would ask that they contact us on 101 as they may be able to assist with our enquiries.

"If anyone has any information relating to the collision we would ask that they contact us."
