A man who died after his dinghy capsized off Orkney has been named by police.

David Croft was flown to Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall after the incident near the island of Sanday on Sunday and later died.

Mr Croft, who was 54, lived in the Howe area.

Another man was flown to Gilbert Bain Hospital in Shetland but was not in a life-threatening condition.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "The man who died following an incident off the coast of Sanday on September 4 is David Croft from the Howe area of the island.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101."
