Thieves have targeted the grave of a 16-year-old cyclist for the fourth time in five months.

Keiran McKandie died after being hit by a car in Moray earlier this year and was laid to rest in Pluscarden Cemetery on April 1.

Since then, items including lights and a plastic hedgehog have been stolen from his grave, leaving his family distraught.

Parents Sandra and Gordon said on Monday: "Keiran was the most precious person in our lives and we struggle every day just to get up in the morning.

"The days just get harder and harder and time is not a healer.

"This morning we visited Pluscarden as we do each day to find that items have been stolen yet again from Keiran's resting place.

"This is the fourth time since this has happened and only six weeks since the last time.

"Keiran would be absolutely appalled that anybody could do this to his resting place as in his short life he did not have any enemies."

The latest theft is believed to have happened between 2.30pm on Sunday and 11am on Monday.

Keiran, who was a keen mountain biker, died after being struck by a Volkswagen Golf while cycling with friends near Dallas on March 20.

At his funeral, the cortege was led to Pluscarden Parish Church by a group of cyclists in full downhill gear.

His family is now raising money to build a mountain biking track in his memory.
